Rezekne Secondary school No 1.
Rezekne Secondary school No.1 is the biggest and oldest school in Rezekne. 676 students aged from 7 to 19 study there and 52 teachers educate them. Studying language is Latvian. Our pupils start to learn foreign languages earlier than in other Latvian schools (English - from the first grade and German or Russian - from the sixth grade).
Students actively participate in subject Olympiads and different extracurricular activities. Year after year, our school's graduates have shown very good knowledge in centralized exams (best achievements in town) and have gotten prizes in district and national competitions and Olympiads.
The school has dance groups, choirs, vocal and instrumental ensembles. There is a technical modelling group as well. Students have an opportunity to work in several sport groups, the most popular of which is the basketball club "Ezerzeme".
The school has developed several traditions - the exhibitions in autumn and winter (flower compositions "Gorgeous flowers for Latvia", "Funny vegetables", "Greetings for Latvia!", Advent wreath exhibition, exhibition of Easter compositions, school girls’ handicraft exhibition at the end of the school year), Teachers Day Celebration, Martin’s day market, Advent & Christmas events, Letters celebration for small children, School graduates get-together event, Easter celebration, Mother's Day concerts, school tourists` gathering, Awarding of Olympiad winners.
In years 2013/2014 our school got involved in the Comenius multilateral school partnership project "Europe’s got talent". This was the first project of this kind, but we are looking to expand the cooperation with European schools.
